The Best Portland Clubs
Aug 3 , 2011
Downtown Portland has become a hotspot for nightlife and clubbing. Visit one of the best Portland clubs to experience nightlife in the great Pacific Northwest. Whether its comedy, D.J.’s, people, or ambiance, you’ll likely find one to fit your style. Dance the night away with a fun Portland crowd.
Helium Comedy Club
Combine one of the best Portland clubs with one of the top venues for good comedy and you get the Helium Comedy Club. A wide array of humor and many well-liked comedians have visited Helium and the Portlanders keep coming back for more. Though the space can get kind of cramped with so many tables pushed together, it adds to the authenticity of the place as a comedy club.
If you aren’t set on paying the money to see the top names in comedy perform, visit Helium on a Tuesday night to hear 20 comedians perform live for free.
The Ohm Night Club
Good dancing is a must to be classified as one of the best Portland clubs, and that’s exactly what the Ohm Night Club has. The D.J.’s at Ohm play a variety of hip-hop, R&B, current hits, mash ups, and sometimes, classic hits from the 80s and 90s.
Nicely located on the waterfront beneath the Burnside Bridge in Portland’s historic entertainment districts, Old Town, Ohm is considered the place for a party in Portland.
Escape
People come to Escape to find themselves in a techno hub of dancing, music, and drinks right in downtown Portland.
This 18+ and gay-friendly club is considered one of the best Portland clubs, for one, because it is welcoming to most everyone as long as you pay the cover charge: $8 on Friday and $12 on Saturday.
Holocene
This high-end club is considered of the best Portland clubs due to some of its unique features. For one, there is a room popular among Holocene’s guest that houses a rotating art exhibit. Also, its two stages are fun to watch and its mezzanine makes it easy to watch other dancers on the dance floor.
Holocene is more enjoyable as one of the best Portland clubs rather than a bars, though. A shortness of bartenders causes the line of drinks to be a little too long, but if you want a fun night of dancing surrounded by a great crowd of people, visit Holocene.
The Beauty Bar
If it’s ladies night out, it’s time for the Beauty Bar. Whether it’s for the $10 martini and manicure special or the retro chairs taken from a Portland hair salon, the Beauty Bar’s trendy retro beauty and style theme attracts women from around the city.
On the dance floor, you can expect fun D.J.’s and lots of dancing. This is the perfect birthday party outing and has become one of the best Portland clubs.
